EFFING GROW UP
I have read the rules and I know using capitals is a no no but sometimes you have to shout as some members have stuffed their ears with something making it hard to communicate with them.
THERE IS NOT A NO-STRIKE AGREEMENT.
THE UNION HAVE NOT SOLD US DOWN THE SWANEE
Yet the naysayers and the prophets od Doom who have largely held sway over the last 48 hours would have us believe otherwise. And they fall into 3 main camps
1. LORD HAW HAW. "Billy and Dave took backhanders" "Billy and Dave are just interested in the House of Commons/Lords".
The best the right wing press could come up with was an alleged no junk mail sticker on Dave Ward's letterbox yet posters on this forum have accused them of far worse.I do not see him logged on but the spirit of Lord Haw Haw surely lurks in those postings.
If I was a moderator I would have deleted the postings, banned the posters and sent them to a gulag for re-education. (But then I do have hard line Stalinist tendencies.)
2.THE RUNAWAYS. "I am leaving the CWU" I will not strike again" I will be a scab"
Oh diddums.Did you not get everything you wanted straight away.Lord Haw Haw is here and he has brought his tantrum head children.Did some of you thcream and thhcream and thcream until you were thick? Here is some advice - turn off your xbox, put down your PSP,pick up a book and learn some HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE.
3.THE VILLAGE PEOPLE. The third CAMP. "Shafted, butt raped, in the arse, vaseline etc."
To anyone with a passing interest in the human psyche the constant homoerotic imagery in the postings was very revealing.Come out of the closet it is OK to be gay.But best tell your wives/girlfriends before you come out on RMC.
Some of you just need to EFFING GROW UP.
And finally without wishing to make this sound like an Oscars acceptance speech I would like to thank Postman for giving us this forum and I would like to thank Dave and his team for negotiating so tirelessly on our behalf.
They won't get me I am part of the Union - and effing proud to be.

Good post. Realism can be a rarity on here, and even better that you've identified the three main flocks of sheep wandering through RMC.
"Persuading" RM to talk and review the current situation seems like a realistic target achieved to me.

Re: EFFING GROW UP
So could someone explain to me what was the point of the strike, what did we actually achieve especially those people who led the first strikes and have lost a bundle of cash.
What is the plan of the CWU?
If that's not too immature a question.

What an aggressive useless post clashcityrocker
how dare you tell people to grow up,they are entitled to their opinions..you mention strike breakers and closet gays ?? you come across as a nasty piece of work, a bully too
The cwu HAVE failed the workers the organisation of the strikes was terrible..What was the point ? nothing was achieved except losing public support and wages...
IM GLAD I WAS A SCAB and I bet there are quite a few on here if honest that wished they had been too...So you get off your little soap box and stop dictating

Re: EFFING GROW UP
I think people are very angry with Union HQ and the PEC at the moment and quite rightly so. Today people will be able to relax a bit and reflect about their union membership and the implications of pulling out. As far as I'm concerned I will stick with the union as thats the only way to protect my job but Billy, Dave and all those at HQ need to know that I'm not happy and they will not get another chance with me if they screw this up.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

There is some scant crumbs of consolation - I'll probably get slated for it
RM thought they could break the back of London , Glasgow & West Scotland and hope the rest of the country would follow suit - that failed .
Similarly they thought they could get London & parts of Scotland on UIA , then starve them back to work and put them on cr** contracts when they returned to work . Plants on the Fluffy forum have been bragging about orchestrating strikes , the oldest 50's spiv trick in the book .
What people have to look at was the plans RM had for decrecognition in that Powerpoint Document , suggesting toothless staff councils as a " alternative forum " & " dialing down " to the bare legal minimum .
RM thought they could stop strikes at a stroke in the courts , that didn't necessarily work .
RM thought they'd have 100 % public backing , OK you'll always get the Colonel Blimp types making a lot of noise but that's all it is - noise , i.e. " Bring Back Maggie ( That would be a bit difficult now ?
That didn't always happen , not everyone is that naive and stupid , they realized the Lord of Darkness was up to his neck in it and Mandy had to crawl back into the sewer where he belongs . RM sometimes came out of things looking very underhand , shifty and shady ( well I never ! ) .
According to Dingo , RM would love to sack about 15 reps in London so staff would have no organization - remember Burslem and Bristol ? - apparently that's not going to happen .
I'll get my crash helmet on and IB issue stab proof vest ready .

Re: EFFING GROW UP
What about the challenge in the high court to the employing of 30,000 agency staff, has this fallen by the wayside?
I can see it was a very good show of strength by the members and it gives HQ a much more powerful bargaining chip when negotiating with RM, the fact that postal workers will still come out in unison, I can see it was a good PR excercise by the union to call off the strikes before christmas so as not to lose too much public support, the union will appear the be the side that is reasonable it's just I can't see that anything meaningful has come out of the loss of so much money for some people.
I guess we have to put our faith in the union to use what we have given them to negotiate us a better future.
We will all have to wait until after christmas to see.

No, -we only have to wait a few weeks to see if Royal Mail are adhering to the spirit and the letter of the agreement.(sorry joint statement)If not we resume Industrial Action and I for one will be happy to be back on the picket line IF NECESSARY.The PEC have taken an enormous leap of faith and I think they should be commended for that not accused of all sorts.I trust them and a lot more than I trust people who once militantly in favour of strike action now saying they will scab.La Poste wrote:

Re: EFFING GROW UP
The interim agreement is a step in the right direction and I am happy to stand down striking whilst we give it a chance, especially as in a mere two weeks we go out again if need be. We have the moral high ground now RM dont!!!
Lets make it very clear to CWU and RML what we want to see from phase 4, the 2007 agreement was voted in by the CWU membership so like it or not its here to stay.
Our task is to ensure we support DW and co in turning the grey areas into black and white areas and get something solid out of phase 4. Get writing to DW and Co and tell them exactly what your vision is for the future of royal mail how its run and the terms and conditions of employment you think staff should have.
