ISLAND posties will taking strike action next Saturday, August 29, in a dispute over jobs and working practices.
Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) voted four to one in favour of taking industrial action.
"Royal Mail has been informed union members will be taking strike action, affecting mail deliveries and collections in the Newport, Cowes, East Cowes and Yarmouth areas," said a CWU spokesman.
"The dispute is over Royal Mail’s failure to negotiate with the CWU over local and national issues. These include reducing full-time jobs to part-time jobs in the Newport office, without agreement, and imposing new working practices, without agreement."
