Royal Mail services in the Bristol area will be disrupted over the weekend by a strike over pay, job security and working conditions.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is holding a series of strikes across the UK over Saturday and Sunday.
Some 15 delivery offices in Bristol will be affected on Saturday.
About 900 staff are expected to stop work, with the CWU warning further strike dates for Bristol distribution depots will be announced next week.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Having met the union more than 50 times in recent months, it is increasingly clear that the CWU refuses to believe that mail volumes are declining despite the clear evidence of this in the UK and in every other postal market around the world.
"The union claims to support modernisation, yet acts to destroy it."
The following postcode areas will see their deliveries affected: BS1; BS3; BS4; BS8; BS9; BS10; BS11; BS13; BS14; BS15; BS16; BS20; BS26; BS31; BS37; BS41 and BS48.
Dave Ward, CWU deputy general secretary, said: "Postal workers and customers are experiencing cuts to services, cuts to hours, cuts to jobs and threats over future jobs and services.
"This is just down-sizing, there's nothing modern about it."
