Rumours circulate about German logistics giants

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

In another report from a non-attributable source which appeared over the weekend, Germany's second global logistics giant, Deutsche Post DHL, was rumoured to be set to announce a full-year pre-tax profit of €1.38bn. If true, that would represent a significant moderation of the downward trend in profits seen earlier in the year. That report was due to appear in German newspaper De Welt today, Monday July 20.

Shares in Deutsche Post (DPWGn.DE) are 2.5 percent higher at 9.835 euros, making them the top gainers among German large caps .GDAXI, after a newspaper report says the company's mail unit is expected to report a larger-than-expected 2009 profit.

Die Welt cites unnamed sources close to the company as saying the unit should see a 2009 pre-tax profit of about 1.38 billion euros ($1.95 billion).

"This would be equal to a net of 0.15 euros a share, which is likely to be added to today's share price," says analyst Heino Ruland, from Ruland Research.

A Frankfurt-based trader says: "We have one estimate from a major broker, expecting 1.24 billion euros for the important mail unit."

"(The news) may help share this morning," the trader says, adding that the stock would probably receive technical trading strength above the 9.73 euro mark.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
