Today all Delivery offices in London were out on strike and all offices confirmed that support for the strike was brilllant and despite the rain attendance on picket lines were very good. All network drivers and indoor staff will be on strike on Thursday and on Friday all London mail centres will be on stike.
Next Friday 17th July on the day of action all London offices will be taking strike action. In addition we have arranged a march from Unlever House Crozier`s
new offices Victoria Embankment in EC to BERR in Victioria Street SW1. We want to see as many London postal workers and supporters on this march as possible and all are invited to join the march to ask for both Crozier and Mandleson to resign . We have to plans in post to present them with that request .
More info will be supplied in due course.
Lastly yesterdays victory in the High Court was not only a big case for the CWU but was a massive victory for the wider trade union cause. The issue Royal Mail were contesting was whether we had the right to ballot everyone in an office regardless of what function they worked or that we had to ballot indivudal functions within an office.
The judge confirmed Royal Mail were "wrong and that you lose your right to an appeal and that costs will be awarded to the CWU. What a victory and many thanks go out to John Hendy QC for his defence along with patterson brewer our Employment solictors. All thanks to the National officers who didt bottle it and supported our defence of the legal case.
Justice was done and the fight and strikes go on until Royal Mail start negotiating and resolving where they have already taken executive action.
