Stuff you once delivered!

Royal Mail is always banging on about falling mail volumes and declining big mail customers and it got me think about some of the stuff we use to deliver.
Do you remember delivering Britannia music LP`s that came recorded delivery or all the cassettes before CD`s came on the scene?
Or when your customers went on British holidays they use to send back stuff like clotted cream from Devon or Kippers through the post,can`t remember the last time I`ve delivered anything like that,it`s all s**t off ebay now!
Only one set of telephone bills or for that matter gas and electric,the various newspaper rag bingo shite that you had as households that actually got delivered to every house unlike the crap householders that end up in the canal(allegedly .)
Also anybody remember one of the big chocolate companies sending out free samples to business,lets put it this way not many got returned to the signing off table.

I'm not on deliveries but I remember when I started a lot of the packets we
sorted were clothing sent out by catalogue firms like Freemans and Littlewoods,
These seem to be delivered by courier firms now, though we deal with the returns.
We also got a lot of credit cards going through, and in London anyway these
are mainly sent out through the SMS courier firm.

Can't remember too far back, but do remember the chocs. Was that not about the same time 3-4 years ago, when we seemed to be taking out free samples of almost everything, from shampoo, washing powders, and those horrible plastic balls for tumble dryers?And remember.the individual boxed rollos? one of the freebies i hate taking round are those dog/cat food packets of meat.

squeezed hard enough they got through about 1/2 the letter boxes on my duty.

I forgot those, and those squidgy free teddies, or dogs,
but--if memory serves me well,there was a time when we took out small free samples of was it baileys?
wonder how many of those reached there destination?

I'm glad we no longer deliver those AOL cds. They never quite fit through the letterbox and I always felt guilty leaving a docket for junk mail!
