Post office workers in Hungerford enjoy launch night for their charity cover versions of two Slade hits

HUNGERFORD posties held a launch night for their charity CD on Saturday (May 16).

The group of postal workers, who recorded their own versions of Slade hits “Run, Runaway” and “My Oh My” in March, hosted an evening of entertainment at Hungerford Town Football Club to celebrate having copies of the CD to sell and raise more money for their chosen charity, Naomi House Children’s Hospice in Hampshire.

Postie and event organiser Mark Andrews said: “We had a fantastic response from the audience.

“They clapped in time to the music, waved their arms in the air and at the end of both songs they gave us a standing ovation. We sold loads of copies on the night so all in all, it was a great evening.

“The money raised so far is £1,170, which is fantastic.”

The group, which has been dubbed the “Missorts” hopes to raise even more money by selling copies of the CD, which is available from Newbury Building Society in Northbrook Street, Newbury and High Street, Hungerford, Martins newsagents in High Street, Hungerford, Crown Needlework at Bossoms in High Street, Hungerford and the Royal Mail Delivery office in High Street, Hungerford, or by phoning 01488 682826.

Mr Andrews added that he was grateful for the help of Sounds Good Ltd, which pressed the CDs, Gazkaz for printing the group’s T-shirts, CD-producer Nas and musicians Fubar and Ian Collins Sound for backing music.
