Can anyone tell me if I am still entitled to a day off (other than my regular day-off) when I complete on the house and move ?

Can you not swap with your relief? This happens often in our office if Management O'K' it.-

If you can't swop your rest day with your floater, your lino could give you the day off, but that would be at their discretion. It could be taken out of your annual leave,with pay, or Special Leave without pay. Basically, your lino could get around it if they wanted to .......
