Prep Testing

Hi,
this is my first time posting in the forum, but i've been lurking for some time and have found this website a good place to gain information.
If anyone could help me with the following questions i'd be really grateful. Recentley i was prep tested on my round and failed the 11 items a minute RM demand.What i'd like is can someone tell me what procedere the manager should follow when doing the test.ie. should he explain the reasons for doing it?Am i allowed time for a toilet break or is this allowed for in the formula they use to come up with your prep rate.My round consists of the usual delivery and also i have to take the large packets off 4 other rounds.On the day of the test i had 27 large packets from these other rounds,but the manager insists that i'm not allowed any extra time for collecting and sorting these items.Surely that can't be correct as it takes longer to prep these packets as it does say 27 letters, but he doesn't agree.So by that logic someone with 1200 letters and flats would take the same time to prep as someone with 1173 letters and flats with 27 packets to go and collect and sort.Surely that's a nonesense.I have spoken with my union rep but he seems a little unsure of the rules.To be honest i'd rather deal with it myself, as at least this way i'd know all avenues have been explored.

The only agreed prep test is 25 items in a minute and into an empty frame.

Just ignore it you have not failed anything. if they tell you you have just ask to see the agreement that allows that test, they wont because they cant, see your rep and grab a grievance form and fill it out for B&H against the manager for standing over you for hours on end and how you found it degrading intimadating and any thing else you felt at the time and how they are now using the results for a procedure they should not be using to B&H you even more. I got my so called prep test stopped by just walking off the job claiming the above, fk them i say.
