RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say about the relocation of Worcester’s main post office.

A special scrutiny committee meeting is being held to discuss people’s experiences of using the branch in WHSmith.

Representatives from the Royal Mail and Age Concern will be at the meeting on Tuesday, April 28, at noon in the Guildhall.

Labour councillor Geoff Williams, who has organised the meeting, said that before the branch relocated, the committee met representatives and were reassured about the move.

Since then, there have been problems with access to the first floor and staffing.

“We would like individuals who have got views to get in touch and come along and have their say,” said Coun Williams.

“It gives local residents an opportunity to say whether they think it is working or not.”

The Foregate Street branch closed its doors in May and moved to the first floor of the WHSmith store in the High Street.

Since then the lift has broken down on several occasions and people have been trapped in it.

Anyone who wishes to speak at the meeting should call Judith Crockford on 01905 722085.

People are also welcome to simply drop in.
