New service helps businesses beat the postal price rise

A company director concerned at the impact of the impending rise in postal charges on small businesses has launched a new service that allows them to keep on communicating with prospects and customers at the ‘old’ prices.

Guy Chatburn, managing director of Midlands-based Send Marketing says that Royal Mail’s decision to increase the price of second class stamps by 11% is placing an unnecessary burden on small businesses at a time when staying in touch is more important than ever.

The price hike will see 3p added to the price of a stamp, taking second class to 30p for a standard letter weighing up to 100g, up from the previous 27p.

In response, Guy has launched a service that allows business to beat the price rise and reduce their in house mailing administration costs. The service, which is available exclusively at http://www.27p.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, includes not only second class postage but also a laser printed letter, a C5 envelope, folding and enclosure – all for only 27p each, the old cost of a second class stamp.

one concern i would have is regarding data protection, where does the 'hard copy' get stored, is their mainframe well protected?

if i was sending out a letter, id have to have pc on, using electricity (which would have to be on whichever method used) and print it out, depending on the lenth of the letter of course (vieiwng online statements cost money in electricity usage ).. and according to latest stats, using paper bills doesnt reduce carbon footprint in comparison to electronic mail etc..

if i print out a single page of A4, around 8-10 pence inc ink, paper and electricity.. envelope 1 pence plus 2nd class stamp = 39-41 pence with royal mail (not including time/cost to insert letter into mailbox)..

curious little system, i'd watch with interest, see how their quality of paper and inks are like.

even tho they say c5 envelope, which a4 folded in half will fit into, the paper will be thin. how on earth can 27pence.com run it? very strange..

ah yeah. that is the scam.. they only have to pay RM 13p, so their advert is not entrely truthful overall and misleading. laser printer is cheaper than a cartridge as well. sounds like theyre making £28 on every 200 they send, minus cost of leccy, business tax, wages, rent, cost of delivering to mail office blah blah blah.
