Operation Milburn police raid another home

POLICE found 11 cannabis plants, together worth about £1,650, after smashing their way into a house in Benfleet.
Officers discovered the drugs growing under specialist lamps in the back garden garage of the house, in Church Road.
The garage also contained ducting and other ventilation equipment, along with the remains of an old cot and heaps of junk.
Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.
Acting Sgt Matt Francis, of Castle Point police, said: “We found quite a small, professional, cannabis setup.”
The raid happened at about 9am yesterday and awoke a man and a woman who were asleep in a downstairs bedroom and a second man sleeping upstairs.
A postman arrived during the raid to deliver letters, which were promptly seized by police, along with other evidence.
Officers also noticed a pair of trainers slung over a telephone wire, which police believe may have been a coded message saying a drugs den was nearby.
The raid was carried out as part of Operation Milburn, a blitz which also saw four drugs raids on Canvey and one in Benfleet on Tuesday of last week.
In total those raids yielded about 150 grammes of what is believed to be cocaine.
They also uncovered five grammes of amphetamine sulphate, 43 grammes of cannabis and two ecstasy tablets.
Brad Dickel, acting insp ector for Castle Point, said: “We are having some great results as a direct knock-on effect of members of the public sharing intelligence with us.
“We are totally committed to driving through our initiative and prosecuting people intent on dealing illegal drugs.”

Load of coppers come up and stick submachine-guns in my face, they can have the D2D's, SAGA magazines, and utility bills. No argument. I'll sort it out with my manager when I get back to the office to change my pants.

Yes that is so - but on actually delivering to the address I think we can do even if it is full of coppers. Signed for items probably not a good idea just form leave them but on others as we now deliver just to the address as I have been told on many occasions I suppose it does not matter who is actually at the address be it resident, squatters or the Police.stokes11eg wrote:TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Has this happened to anyone else - It did to me a few years ago just as I delivered a Police Van drew up at the address and about 5 of them piled out one with a ram - got out of their way sharpish. It was always my understanding that Police could not 'Take' Mail from a postie? We were always told if we were stopped in the street,by police, to refer them to Management is this not the case now?

Re: Operation Milburn police raid another home
One of our guys was delivering to an address near the rear of our office and when he got there, there had been a drugs raid.
One of the coppers said whilst motioning towards where the door used to be "the letterbox is a bit bigger for you today". They didn't take the mail off him, they just let him put it in the hole and carry on.
I guess if you arrive at the address and put the mail over the threshold then whoever's in the house can do whatever they like with it. I would personally refuse to hand it over to someone if I knew they didn't live at the address. We're paid to deliver to the address.

Re: Operation Milburn police raid another home
I was on a round where the night before there had been a house fire and the mother and a daughter had died.
The road was crawling with the press who were knocking on doors and talking to neighbours.
When i got to the house the copper at the gate told me to deliver the mail and i had to walk up the path and drop the mail inside what was left of the door, i didn't enjoy it much.
Strangely the next day i was on a rural where the grandparents lived and where the father and other daughter had gone to, and had to deliver to them as well, didn't enjoy that much either.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I just stand still and wait for it to pass, or wait at the address I was on.stokes11eg wrote:bedfordrl wrote:I was on a round where the night before there had been a house fire and the mother and a daughter had died.

Re: Operation Milburn police raid another home
About a month ago there was a drugs raid on my old walk, the police were all in white uniforms
they were ripping the inside of the guys car out when i got there.
The police had the mail for the guy from me, it was funny to see copper with mail in his left hand and a cannabis plant in his other hand
The police could have had my whole bag of mail if they had asked ....would have saved me delivering it

I got to an address once, did my usual "morning" before realising the people stood in there were waiting for the hearse to show up...
They didn't take the mail off me either <tuts> :-p
