A POSTMAN from Worcester who admitted stealing the contents of parcels he was supposed to deliver has narrowly avoided a jail sentence.
Thomas Holloway had previously admitted two charges of theft and one of opening postal packets when he appeared at Worcester’s Magistrates court.
In total, the 24-year-old from Wood Terrace, Arboretum, Worcester, was caught opening nine parcels, stealing a computer game, and a search of his home uncovered £700 of electrical items stolen from parcels, including six iPods, three further computer games, three Nintendo DS consoles, two DVDs and a CD.
Magistrates sentenced Holloway to six months custody, suspended for 12 months, with 280 hours of unpaid work and £100 costs.
