Village postal workers will see their hours cut.
In the new financial year, Earls Colne and Wakes Colne postal workers will see a reduction in hours.
Peter Boulton, area delivery rep of the Communication Workers’ Union, said one full-time duty in each village would see a five-hour reduction.
Hours will go from 40 hours per week to 35.
He said: “The postal workers in both these villages are already under quite a bit of pressure.
“It’s constant change. There’s always a plan in one of the offices to remove some of the hours.”
Mr Boulton said the short-staffed Halstead delivery office recently struggled because it had eight vacancies and seven people off sick - 15 people short out of a workforce 35.
Mr Boulton said: “That was pretty dramatic. They had a heck of a time getting it all covered and people had to be borrowed from the rest of the CO area.
“If we had those eight vacancies filled we would have been able to cope better.”

Can RM get away with reducing peoples hours without agreement?
Because if they can then all of us FTs can expect the same.

Earls Colne and Wakes Colne are tiny places. They're not far from Halstead.
