Royal Mail is to celebrate all things Welsh when it launches a set of stamps to commemorate St David’s Day.

The miniature sheet of four stamps has been designed by Silk Pearce and will go on sale on Thursday, 26 February. They aim to take a fresh look at traditional Welsh imagery, including a photograph of the Cardiff Bay waterfront.

The Colchester based design agency was tasked to use an existing first-class regional definitive stamp presenting the Welsh dragon and three new commemorative stamps.

The other three stamps feature computer-generated illustration by Peter Crowther
The background to the sheet shows Harlech Castle overlooking the landscape of Snowdonia National Park, the largest of three national parks in Wales.

Wales is the final set in ‘The Four Countries of the United Kingdom’ series that has been designed by Silk Pearce and rolled out over four years to promote the national identities of Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
