Royal Mail shuts Crowthorne office

Last minute efforts to save Crowthorne’s post office have failed.

The sorting office in King's Road will close in April, Royal Mail bosses announced today.

The news comes just days after councillors united and enlisted the help of local people in a protest against the closure.

Strategically placing people along Crowthorne High Street, Dukes Ride and Greenwood Road, the group, which also included members of Crowthorne Village Action Group (CVAG), got hundreds of people to sign their petition on Saturday asking Royal Mail to consult the public.
