Suspicious substances

Post by andy2007 »

What's the normal procedure, if a suspicious substance is found at work?
We found a lot of fine white powder on one of our lorries yesterday. The Manager called the Police, who had a quick look round the trailer. Then told the Manager to quarantine it for a week, and monitor everyone who had come into contact with it, for any symptoms.

I may be being a bit paranoid. But surely a sample should have been taken for analysis, shouldn't it?
I know that it's highly unlikley to be anything dangerous (the Manager thinks it's salt). But that's not the point. Surely it's better to find out quickly, rather than just wait to see if symptoms appear.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

:nana About three years ago, I had letters coming in every day to a certain address, stuff kept leaking out, and at first I thoght it was cannabis, or some kind of soil-This happened a few times, and i reported it to Management, who basically did zilch. some time later I came out in a ringworm type rash, the Doc. thought it was down to this stuff in the mail!
I can only assume it was some kind of hate mail, and I still had to keep on delivering it.

One of my colleagues "found a lot of white powder" on his van earlier this month - and then realised it was snow.
