back to 5 oclock starts

Would anyone welcome this, would the cwu push for it, IF, the big 5 hour delivery comes to fruition.

Finishing at 1 would give us all time to do the things we used to do in the afternoon, many of us have hobbies, interests etc, and it would be good for the union to try and reinstate the early shift allowance, which we are to lose shortly :evil/mad

-thus making us all a whole lot poorer/

5am, yay or nay

:cfo Yes, I took this job for the early start, and finish.I can see the day coming however, when the starts will be put even further back-probably to 7/30 8o'clock.I can also see the day, when most staff will have a more variable start and finish time than at present. When and if the 'machines' finally join the workforce, there will simply be no need for most of the staff to be in early. thinkabout it!

I think it makes sense especially if they get thier longer delivery span wish and lets face it the customers ( the ones we deliver to want thier mail earlier than they get it now. Don't think it will happen even if they didn't have to pay the extra early shift allowance as we don't get the bulk of our mail till after 6am as it is.

Now that I've got used to starting later in the day (8am) I actually like it, it means that I can go to bed at a reasonable hour and get up at a reasonable hour and I don't have to have that afternoon nap to get by, I was against the later starts at the beginning but I'm now used to the 'normal hours' of 8-4.

Our start times did not change at our office(we are 05.30)so i will not vote in the poll, but if it had i dont think i and alot of the bods at our place would want to start at 05.00 as it would be difficult to get public transport at that time as we have parking restrictions all over the place and alot come in on public transport,im lucky 1 of my customers lets me park on there drive :Very Happy
