Re: 48 hours a week next year
I think the EU are considering ending the UK's opt out from the maximum 48 hour week.
But the British Government, fronted by :mfo are opposing this.
If it is carried it would not take effect until 2012.

Re: 48 hours a week next year
they will have to reduce our working week to 30 hours to be able to get deliveries done, also they will have to introduce lot sof staff or more mechanisation at all levels so we won't waste time on IPS and more on delivery.
having said that, isn't there an option to opt out on a personal basis ?

No, if the EU says it's the maximum then it will be law BUT they will try to wriggle out of it by claiming that it has to average out over a period of time (probably 6 months).NWpostie wrote:they will have to reduce our working week to 30 hours to be able to get deliveries done, also they will have to introduce lot sof staff or more mechanisation at all levels so we won't waste time on IPS and more on delivery.

Probably another reason why RM wants to introduce 'banked hours'.
