Rise in Union Membership

Post by nelson »

The DOM received an email today stating that union membership had just gone up 15% in recent weeks. Royal Mail must now start to sit up and take notice. This time they have taken a step too far even for them. Roll on 7th and an overwhelming YES vote. Maybe they will then admit their pig headed attitude, and talk again. The person in charge of RM propoganda is mad, as if any right thinking person could be persuaded by that junk, its not even clever just very very poor. All that has done is upset the most mild mannered staff. :Applause :Applause :Applause

Your right most of what I've got I have been able to tear holes in it, as have others on here. Talking to postmen on the walks most have been persuaded to vote with the union by this continual stream of propaganda.

Had a couple of non Union Members, only this week say, "I`m not in the Union, but I will support you all by not crossing any `lines`. Pointed out to them they could be in trouble if they do this . Got them to join, even if it`s only while all this `strife` is going on. Wonder if this figure of 15% is correct, Any Rep`s able to report an increase in Membership?

I don't think they'll have many rights and would be expected to work; I think on unofficial action RM could change our contracts, but if we're out officially it's illegal. But for those who aren't in the union that may happen to them, ie if they're full time they'll come back part time. I'm not fully sure so please ask your branch secretary or area rep for advice on this one.
