Super postie Simon Illingworth is made an MBE after raising thousands of pounds for cancer charities despite suffering from two forms of the disease himself.

The Atherstone father-of-three, who works at Parcelforce, in Middlemarch Business Park, Coventry, has completed more than 50 marathons raising more than £7,000.

Earlier this year Simon, of Church Walk, was also named Royal Mail’s postman of the year.

He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2003 and shortly afterwards was told he also had Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma but he vowed to stay positive to raise money and awareness
