Rob Wilson delivered his Christmas thank you to posties at the Royal Mail’s sorting office.
The Reading East MP took a tour of the depot on Friday, December 19, to see how the mountain of Christmas post is dealt with over the festive period.
He said: “Over Christmas employees at the Caversham Road sorting office work long hours and extra shifts to make sure that all cards and presents are delivered on time.
“It was great to meet some of the 226 Royal Mail employees, who are responsible for ensuring that the people of Reading receive a first class Christmas.”
Mr Wilson also pledged to work closely with the Royal Mail to ensure Reading continues to play an important part in its business.
He followed his tour by holding an advice surgery to support postal workers concerned about their employment prospects as the Reading sorting office is being wound down before operations are moved to Swindon in the new year and the sorting office closes.
