A YOUNG postwoman has been praised by neighbours after she came to the aid of a Bury pensioner who fell and broke her arm.
The postwoman raised the alarm after discovering that 83-year-old Kathleen McLaughlin had slipped on an icy pathway outside her house in Plumpton Drive, Walmersley.
The teenage girl alerted neighbours and waited with the woman until the ambulance arrived. The pensioner was treated in hospital and is now recovering at home following last Thursday’s accident.
Christine Greaves, who lives in nearby Arley Avenue, said: “This young postwoman went way beyond the call of duty to help the pensioner. She spent some time helping her and we think she certainly deserves a mention for all her kindness and concern.”

I've helped people who have fallen on the ice, thankfully none have been severely injured (worst injury is usually their pride) and I've niether looked for or wanted and praise or award because it should be be something EVERYBODY does as a matter of course.
