Pegasus/Georoute - Bullying and Harassment of Members

Further to excellent media coverage regarding the problems with Royal Mail's walking speeds in Pegasus, would Representatives at all levels please ensure that maximum publicity is given to this issue with local media sources. Contact should be made with local newspapers, radio etc in order to highlight the plight of our members in delivery units struggling to maintain quality and achieve unrealistic walk speeds implemented as a result of Pegasus/Georoute revisions.

Branches are also encouraged to provide CWU HQ as a matter of urgency, with evidence of areas that have had revisions implemented and are seen not to be working. In particular, incidences of bullying and harassment of our members, which may include people working over duty time on a regular basis without pay, being encouraged to attend early, being encouraged to forego recognised meal breaks, threats of breaking the USO by not staying out beyond duty time, including threats of discipline and any other non-agreed work practices that exists in their areas of representational responsibility.

We will be writing directly to members shortly, asking them for their experiences in this regard but it would be very useful for evidence of general issues to be provided in advance.

We will also be writing to Michael Stockdale, Delivery & Collection Director, in the next day or so inviting Royal Mail to reach a national agreement with the CWU on all the elements of the Pegasus/Georoute system. It is vital therefore that we amass as much information and evidence in the above regard as is possible.

Remember, Royal Mail stated that their staff were only ever asked to walk at 'around two miles per hour' and that they did not tolerate bullying and harassment in any form. We intend to hold them to that.
