THE first in a series of Christmas post strikes around the Bridgwater area will begin on December 20, unions have confirmed today.
No mail will be delivered or collected on that day, according to the Commercial Workers Union, while further 24-hour strikes will be held in the days before Christmas.
Three postcodes are affected: TA5, which includes Cannington, Combwich, Kilve, Nether Stowey, Spaxton and Stogursey; TA6, which includes Bridgwater, North Petherton, Pawlett, and Wembdon, and TA7, which covers around 30 villages in Sedgemoor, including Westonzoyland, Woolavington and Puriton.
Bridgwater Royal Mail workers say they will personally deliver a leaflet next week explaining to people why they are striking.
