Usually although not always posties are either taken out to deliveries in official vehicles, or they have public transport passes, or you can claim cost of travel back by keeping the tickets. However, at least 1 Office on here has said they don't get any of this.
Although sometimes I get on the bus to go home, and I should pay as I am not working at that point, and the bus driver waves me past and I get a free trip. It all depends on your area and the driver TBH.
