Australian Postie working in USA flees crash zone

AN AUSTRALIAN postman evaded the fighter jet that crashed into the San Diego street where he was doing his round.

Bill Dusting, formerly of St Kilda, Victoria, said he sprinted for safety as the pilotless F/A-18D Hornet heading for the nearby Miramar (Top Gun) base slammed into a house.

"I heard a bang, bang and I thought someone was shooting at me," Mr Dusting told the Herald. "I looked up and saw the parachute, and then I saw the jet, which was pretty much heading straight at me."

Mr Dusting said he sprinted away from the house. "I chose the right direction, running right instead of left," he said.

An instant later, the jet smashed into the house, then into another two homes before crossing the street and crashing into at least two more houses.

Its bad enough being chased by dog's but F/A-18D Hornet's is where i draw the line.

Wonder if his Manager has sent a letter to the householder advising that due to crashing aircraft deliveries may be suspended if there is a recurrence.
