Christmas post will be hit
Milton Keynes postal workers are to stage a one-day strike on December 19.
The Communication Workers Union ordered the action on the eve of the deadline for first class Christmas mail following failure of long running negotiations over the future of the Royal Mail distribution centre at Dawson Road, Bletchley.
Staff at Dawson Road elected to strike in a secret ballot when post bosses refused to withdraw plans to close the centre in favour of a planned regional depot at Junction 15 of the M1.
The union said management had forced their hand. Further industrial action could follow.
