where did you have your interview mate? Did they say you'll be working in a Delivery Office or Mail Centre? You will probably be sorting the mail one way or another, tipping mailbags, handstamping lumpy items. If your working nights there may be a chance to stay on after Xmas but most casuals don't.

If you're working 1800-0200 in a sorting office you will be tipping mailbags, segregating and facing letters (putting them
into trays/pods facing the same way), sorting letters, packets, or flats, tying up full bags, and loading them onto
containers, and possibly wheeling the containers (Yorks) out to the loading bays.
You might be asked to stay on after Xmas if it is still busy, but unfortunately it is unlikely that you will be offered a
permanent job, as Royal Mail is closing Mail Centres and cutting full time staff - though they may offer you a part time
job (evenings) depending on where you are.
