POSTMAN TO THE RESCUE - (NO NOT HIM)

FORMER Angus councillor, Ian Angus, substituted his postal delivery van for a white charger last Monday when he came across a badly injured lady on a rural track.
Mr Angus was delivering mail in the area of North Mains of Ethie when he discovered Mrs Judy Stoneley, of Anniston Farm.

She had been thrown from her horse and had suffered a broken leg.

The accident had happened on the track near the ford at Ethiebarns and, despite being in considerable pain, the victim had crawled several hundred yards towards the farm buildings seeking help.

Mr Angus explained: "She was obviously badly hurt and seemed to have crawled a considerable distance. I told her not to move any more and tried to call an ambulance on my mobile 'phone.

"However, I could not get a signal so I went to the house and the occupants were most helpful. They called an ambulance and provided blankets and a quilt to keep Mrs Stoneley warm while she waited for it to arrive."

Mrs Stoneley was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where she was detained with a broken femur.

Her husband, Ross, explained that his wife had been out riding on Freda, her five-year-old mare, which she has owned for several years.

The wind, he explained, had spooked the horse which spun round violently, unseating the rider.

He said: "Both my wife and I are extremely grateful to the postie who was making his rounds. We are glad he was there, as the track is not heavily used.

"I would like to extend thanks publicly, but I also intend to meet the gentleman face-to-face so I can pass on my thanks privately."

Interesting,as today i done a good deed,this old lady on my round who is blind was at the front door messing about with the bins as the bin men had been and they were all over the place.
I told her i was the postie and i had some bits for her,and for the next 10mins i helped her sort her wheelie bins out and bring some of the smaller recycle and watnot ones into her place and line them up ect,for some reason there were 5 in all!
