Royal Mail says post delivery problems are improving

ROYAL Mail says it has acknowledged recent delivery issues bit claims services are improving.

The company has responded after MP Simon Opher raised concerns about ongoing problems in Stroud, Dursley and Cam where missed appointments and late delivery of important documents have been reported.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We know how important it is that customers receive their mail when expected.

"The local delivery office has experienced some resourcing pressures, which have affected individual routes at times.

"The position has improved significantly in recent weeks, with the office now starting each day clear of outstanding mail, and we are continuing to recruit to strengthen the local team.

"First Class performance across the GL postcode area has improved significantly over the past year, with 84.4 per cent of mail now delivered the next working day, up from 69.2 per cent at the same point last year.

"We know there is more to do and, following discussions with Simon Opher MP, we will be reviewing the delivery offices serving the constituency as part of our ongoing work to improve local performance."

Simon Opher, MP for Stroud, secured a commitment for a local inquiry during talks with Royal Mail representatives at the Labour Party conference.

He described the situation as "untenable" and said it had become the biggest issue raised by constituents over the summer.

Dr Opher has also written to Ofcom and government ministers, calling for stronger regulatory action and questioning whether the regulator has enough power to hold Royal Mail accountable.

Royal Mail said that while most first-class mail is now delivered on time, localised issues can still disrupt individual delivery routes.

Undelivered mail is prioritised for delivery on the next working day.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
