Re: Workplace Health Service
Speaking from experience Royal Mail don't give a flying fxxk about your health and if you read the above statement from Alistair Cochrane it's very clear he don't.
Royal Mail is proud to support Keep Britain Working to help more people stay in and return to work.
We are already applying learnings from the programme to strengthen support for our employees’ wellbeing, particularly those at risk of musculoskeletal and mental health conditions, which are the leading causes of sick absence in our business.
We are introducing practical measures such as upskilling managers on mental health, removing barriers for employees seeking help with their health, and making it as easy as possible to return after long-term sick leave.
What was the help given to me as an older person old suffering a injury ? Oh yeah let's conduct you and put you on a round with 80% of delivery points that are 3 story apartment blocks on your return !! And then playing billy big bollocks by saying dunno why you can't do it, Joe who is 40 years younger than you can do it.
The excessive workload and Line Managers who are nothing more than school bully's are the problem, Royal Mail know where the problem lays and just gloss over it as they always do.

Re: Workplace Health Service
From the company that sends you out on 5+ hour, 15km+ deliveries in 30C + degrees heat, I have a hard time believing they care about their employees health.

Interestingly the councils whose mayors are waxing lyrical about presenteeism have a disproportionate number of lost tribunal claims for breaches of the EA10.

All of the above is not true. If your off work with an injury due to a work related issue, the only help you recieve from your DOM is having to refer you to occupational health. This does nothing to help you get back to work any quicker.
All this does is asses your problem, which the DOM already knows of and I am sure occupational health types a report to give to the DOM on a timeline of when you'll be back at work.
What the business really needs to do is direct you to a physio and the business pay for it. As long as its work related and not something out of work, like playing football and you've injured yourself by playing that sport.
Even some of my friends that have office jobs get free physio through there work, I am very surprised in a very physically demanding job that we don't get that opportunity.

Re: Workplace Health Service
I’m off with disc problems (2nd time) and chronic arthritis worsening by the week
Only times I’ve been off have been with sick cert and for above plus NALD
My reward
Last absence stage triggered
Obviously I’ll fight it through OH but OH have said RM are not obliged to follow their advice/findings/recommendations
As for Union - do I even need to say that their response is “but it was all agreed at national level”

My physiotherapist requested more sessions but was denied after the 6th on both occasions this was around 5 & 10 years ago. Not sure on today’s policy’s
