The area has been hit by a number of delays and disruptions in recent months
Royal Mail bosses have issued an update after a Doncaster suburb was hit by delays and disruption for the second time this year.
Residents in Intake and Wheatley have complained of lengthy delays in receiving their post - following severe problems in the area earlier this year.
“We have contacted Royal Mail and not been given much information.
“My daughter was informed staff sickness and I was told it was possible sickness.
“I explained I was waiting important documents from the NHS and DVLA as well as gifts that have been bought as well as important documents following my partner’s mum’s death last month that we need ASAP
“There must be more households in Doncaster with this issue.”
Earlier this year, people living in Wheatley Hills accused the Royal Mail of “third world delivery” with one fuming: “We have not seen a postie since last week.”
In a message to the Free Press, the frustrated resident said: “This week there have been none where I live in Wheatley Hills.
“What is going on? The public pay for first or second class delivery, but the service we are getting is third world delivery – or perhaps the pigeons are on strike?”
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We know how important it is that customers receive their mail when expected.
“Our latest results show that quality of service is improving. In the DN postcode area - 84% of First Class mail was delivered on time, an improvement of 7.9% on the previous quarter.
“We know there is more to do to reach our targets.
“We are investing £500 million over five years and making significant changes across our network, including rolling out a new delivery model designed to provide a more reliable and consistent service for customers.”
