A well-loved Clydebank postie is hanging up his Royal Mail uniform after 48 years of serving the community.

Bryan Irvine spent a large portion of his career working out of the Clydebank sorting office.

In the first few decades, he served rural areas of Clydebank, often delivering to small holdings and farms, where he said he found a sense of calm.

Speaking to the Clydebank Post, the 66-year-old, said: "When you go up there, you get away from everyone and escape.

"I met a lot of really nice people in my time.

"I've seen kids who are the same age as my kids growing up over the years.

"From babies all the way up until they're 34 years old.

"And I'd always keep a box of dog treats with me."

Bryan found himself in some unusual situations over the years, from lending a hand herding animals to helping people in need.

In the latter half of his time, he covered some of the residential areas in Hardgate.
