Death after retirement

Do I have to register my wife as a dependent or will she automatically get half of my pension after I die? I can’t get on to the pension portal for information as I’ve forgotten my password and can’t reset it as they need the old one to do itThanks

She should get it, but it'll make things a easier if you nominate her beforehand.

Each RM pension scheme has their own nomination forms, so make sure you fill in all that apply to you.
For example: both RMSPS and RMPP have different forms for pension and lump sum. So if you have Age60 and Age65 benefits, that's 4 to fill in.

A lump sum can still be paid if you die within 5 years of taking your pension!, aswell as the spouses pension!

The forms for those two schemes can be printed off from their websites(without logging in) and returned by post.

Members of the RMDCP/L&G Mastertrust and the RMCPP will have their own forms.
