Death after retirement

Post by arsenalbob »

Do I have to register my wife as a dependent or will she automatically get half of my pension after I die? I can’t get on to the pension portal for information as I’ve forgotten my password and can’t reset it as they need the old one to do it🤷🏼‍♂️Thanks

She should get it, but it'll make things a easier if you nominate her beforehand.

Each RM pension scheme has their own nomination forms, so make sure you fill in all that apply to you.
For example: both RMSPS and RMPP have different forms for pension and lump sum. So if you have Age60 and Age65 benefits, that's 4 to fill in.

A lump sum can still be paid if you die within 5 years of taking your pension!, aswell as the spouses pension! :cool

The forms for those two schemes can be printed off from their websites(without logging in) and returned by post.

Members of the RMDCP/L&G Mastertrust and the RMCPP will have their own forms.
