Liverpool apartments where 'it's an absolute miracle' if the postman turns up

A woman in a Liverpool apartment block says she and her neighbours barely see their postman and their letters never seem to arrive. Liv Clark moved into Hartley Locks, a set of new-build flats on Lightboy Street close to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, in November 2025.

Despite having a 24/7 concierge, Liv claims it’s an "absolute miracle" if she gets her post. Royal Mail have told Liv and the ECHO there is no post currently being held for Hartley Locks, which is managed by housing association Torus.

But Liv says this is because her boyfriend picked up a month's worth of their post from the Sandhills sorting office last month and additional deliveries have remained sparse since.

These claims follow a separate ECHO report last week from Fountains Road in Kirkdale, where residents claimed they have been waiting almost three weeks for their post. The street is a six minute drive away from Lightbody Street and both are in the L5 postcode.

Liv said: “If we get post, it's an absolute miracle. We have a concierge service 24/7 in the building for any parcels that are being delivered. My boyfriend said to him about the post and he said a lot of the residents have also said the same, that no one's getting regular mail.

“He advised us to go through the sorting office in Sandhills. My boyfriend went on April 21 and collected over 10 letters for our apartment alone.

“When we collected the letters in April, there was post backdated to March 12. There were three bank cards that my partner had ordered, and because we just weren't getting the post, we didn't know if they were being lost.

“(There were letters) about council tax, we were getting letters from the property managers about work that needs to be done. I had a theft at my previous address, and the police are sending a letter out, but that's still not been delivered. It's all the important letters that we're missing. But Royal Mail just don't seem to give a toss, to put it politely.

“We've escalated it to Royal Mail themselves. The sorting office then said that there was no post for us.

“But obviously, there wouldn't be any because we collected the day before. There's just been no resolution. When they did last deliver mail, I'd ordered something from Etsy.

“They said they would deliver it on March 13, and it just didn't turn up, so they have been marking postal deliveries that are recorded as delivered but still not delivering, which is not great."

Liv also claims Royal Mail have told her they need more posties so that they can deliver to Hartley Locks. She said: “Royal Mail have admitted they just don't have the staff.

“They said that they're going to put more deliveries on, but I don't know how they're able to do that if they just don't have staff. You can't just pull people out of thin air.

”People could be waiting for important letters from hospitals, jobs, or other things going on in their personal lives. They could be missing important appointments or anything, and through no fault of their own, because Royal Mail are just not caring and delivering our mail when we need it.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We understand how important regular mail deliveries are, particularly when customers are waiting for bank cards, hospital letters and other important documents.

“We have checked locally and there is currently no mail being held for this address. We will continue to keep delivery arrangements for the block under review, so any issues affecting residents can be looked into and acted on where needed.”

The ECHO approached Torus for comment.
