BROMSGROVE'S MP has vowed to continue fighting for improvements to postal services.
Bromsgrove MP Bradley Thomas launched a survey after receiving complaints about unreliable deliveries in the area.
Of the 258 residents who responded, 87 per cent said they found the service 'not very reliable'.
A further 35 per cent said they had missed an important appointment because their post was not delivered on time.
Thomas has since taken residents' concerns to Royal Mail and has been pushing for an action plan in Parliament.
He has also written to the chief executive of Ofcom, Dame Melanie Dawes, to escalate the issue further.
In her response, Dame Melanie stated that Royal Mail's 'current performance is not acceptable'.
She explained that Ofcom had already fined Royal Mail and is urging the company to publicly present a credible plan for change, supported by investment.
Royal Mail has recently published its delivery improvement plan, which includes a £500 million investment over the next five years and several milestones to meet its annual delivery targets within the next 12 months.
Mr Thomas said: "I want to stress once again that my issue is not with our hardworking postmen and women.
"My issue is with how the Royal Mail is currently being run.
"The action set out by Dame Melanie is exactly what I’ve been calling for, and I’m grateful to her for her response."
"The time for platitudes from the Royal Mail is over, residents deserve real action.
"We must therefore see the Government deliver an action plan for the Royal Mail, so we see an improved service that residents deserve, and I’ll continue to call for this in Parliament."
Ofcom monitors the efficiency of the UK’s universal postal service, which includes delivery targets and pricing.
