Re: The DM26 posters/briefs from Robin
What’s different?
• More loops but similar workload.
• Slightly longer outdoor spans with a trade-off of more Saturdays off
for most colleagues.
• From one postie doing one route to three posties doing four routes
– this is the source of the financial benefits.
• Sole route ownership to shared route ownership – van shares will
spit workload fairly between them to get the job done.
• Rurals and firms have a lighter workload day to day with capacity
to help colleagues with higher volumes.
• Cover happens as it does now.
• Non-drivers will do van shares and HCT duties.
Basically rurals and firms and non drivers will have it easier.

The fun and games will begin when you have offices/staff who've never worked as a group/pairing thrown into this brave new world. As referenced on the 'job and finish' thread, many staff go home early once they think they've done 'their bit'. I'm sure RM are hoping to catch some of the low hanging fruit this way.

Shouldn’t be allowed home early. Should be sent back out to work their hours like everyone elsePerseus wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:48The fun and games will begin when you have offices/staff who've never worked as a group/pairing thrown into this brave new world. Each loop will have to be proper to a fixed walk for the purposes of running the mech as it's not possible to have loops moving between walks each day when sequencing or walk sorting.theotherone wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:37What’s different?

it will be assigned to a walk and then taken from that frame by other walk like lapsing is I assumeSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:54Each loop will have to be proper to a fixed walk for the purposes of running the mech as it's not possible to have loops moving between walks each day when sequencing or walk sorting.theotherone wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:37What’s different?

If walk 1 and 2 are doing half of walk 4 the mail will still be designated to walk 4 for the purposes of sorting
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Starburst they called it

Never been the case so far in a lot of offices, maybe this will be the final straw to put an end to it.Pfrizzy10 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:50Shouldn’t be allowed home early. Those 2 downloads are also very scant on details on how Saturdays are to be staffed, with zero reference on the role of non driving staff on a Saturday - before it was either assisting in a van, push an HCT full of parcels/1c, or prep door to doors and mail for the next week.

Re: The DM26 posters/briefs from Robin
Dream on if you think rurals and firms will have it easy as they'll no doubt be tasked with delivering anything the van shares are struggling to deliver on any given day, be parcels, double/triple mail or a load of 1c, whilst also continually delivering double mail on half of their duty.theotherone wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:37What’s different?

There's plenty of newbies like this.... or new people that have only worked with new people....Perseus wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:48The fun and games will begin when you have offices/staff who've never worked as a group/pairing thrown into this brave new world. These posties don't realise how fast people actually work at as they've never been moved around to work with different legacy staff.

Re: The DM26 posters/briefs from Robin
At its core, DM26 appears to be 3 posties doing the work that currently takes 4. That is the financial engine but real life involves new starters, vehicle breakdowns, parcel spikes, sickness etc etc etc so the risk is that the system is more fragile in practice.
Reading the blurb - when they say 8 loops instead of 6, but similar workload - how is it?? Even if letter traffic is lighter on some of the loops, more loops = more stops/starts, more transitions, more parcel handling and loading/unloading and more fatigue? 8 loops is not just 6 loops with less letters when parcel volumes remain high so it sounds to me that more physical effort is being packaged as a "balanced workload".
Also, I don't understand why they claim "route ownership" when there are shared pods, shared workload, shared loops?? Route ownership to me means 1 postie = 1 round. And the idea of more Saturdays off is attractive to the business because it will mean less paid shifts that day. Thats great if it means that I'm not then doing double or treble work on Monday or Tuesdays, or if I am, I can still finish on time. Perhaps the singletons on the rural and firm duties can pick up the slack for me as they will be expected to do more than what their own job requires??
More complexity will mean more indoor pressure in determining what goes and what is left behind. What exactly is a fair workload? And full resourcing for each office - how long will that last??

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: The DM26 posters/briefs from Robin
Where does the 4th person go ?
It will be an unmitigated disaster and the fact the union is backing it is farcical.
We are a trial office and most of last year and even in the past months area reps have been in and out stating this version would be a disaster. Now they are endorsing it.
I usually work overtime but if this system is the way foward i can see many just working to time. Head melting just looking at the diagram of how it works not to mention they must take us all for idiots the shite they are talking about workloads and more time off etc.

I think it's dangerous if work isn't assigned to a duty structure upon signing.TopperGas wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 22:15Dream on if you think rurals and firms will have it easy as they'll no doubt be tasked with delivering anything the van shares are struggling to deliver on any given day, be parcels, double/triple mail or a load of 1c, whilst also continually delivering double mail on half of their duty.theotherone wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 21:37What’s different?

If it is left to whether someone can achieve it on any given day will lead to rows amongst staff.
It rurals are and forms have to help out with lapsing elsewhere because their work is lighter due to reduction of mail daily that should be fixed part of their structure in my opinion.
Needs to be all achievable before it's signed off meaning some duties may have to put in before it goes live.

Re: The DM26 posters/briefs from Robin
Its the bringing in this to 240 offices before the ballot happens that worrys me what if its voted down them 275 offices will still be doing it so 25% of the offices will have had it forced on them without a vote for it
