FAMILY and friends of a sport-loving Bridgwater man who died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning have paid tribute to a “gentle, kind person.”
Kelvyn Perren, 53, was found dead at his Gloucester Road home on September 25.
A post mortem revealed a carbon monoxide overdose but an inquest will be held.
Kelvyn's brother, Christopher, said: “He was a very loving brother, all his family are going to deeply miss him. His wonderful personality helped him surround himself with plenty of friends.
“Kelvyn really loved his sports, he was involved in skittles, cricket and football for many, many years and he also loved his job.”
A former Robert Blake Science College student, Kelvyn worked for the Post Office for 28 years, building up a detailed knowledge of the area and becoming a familiar face in the town.
He had many close friends through his love of sports, including Ian Roberts, who he knew for 15 years.
Ian said: “It came as such a shock when I heard Kelvyn was dead. He was always such a fit and healthy person, I never once knew him to have a sick day off work. He never even had a cough or a cold.
“He was such a gentle, kind person well versed in lots of sports. We shall all miss him very much.”
Kelvyn was born in Winchester in 1956 and moved to Bridgwater as a toddler and soon became a brother to Shirley and Christopher.
His active love of sports meant he became heavily involved in a range of roles including goalkeeper for Redgate Football Club.
He was also a member of Somerset County Cricket Club for 30 years.
A date for Kelvyn's funeral is yet to be set.
· The Blake Arms in Bridgwater is having an open evening on Saturday, October 18, to celebrate the life of Kelvyn, who played town skittles for many years.

what a lovely man kelvyn was he has been our postman for a long time he was always punctual and always spoke to everyone on his round sympathy goes to his family.
