‘FRUSTRATED’ residents in Sorbie and Whithorn are hitting out at delivery giant Evri as pleas for information about parcels go unanswered.
Multiple people in the area have reported that the courier service has not delivered or collected any parcels since August 15 and that tracking information hasn’t been updated for Evri’s depot in Carlisle.
But despite persistent attempts to contact the firm, customers have been left in the dark.
One Whithorn resident this week told the Galloway Gazette: “To say I’m frustrated is the least of it.
“We used to have a great service in the area but now that’s all stopped and every time you try to contact Evri you’re directed to a general number where you have to deal with a bot, and if you eventually get through to a person they tell you that your parcel will be delivered tomorrow but it doesn’t come.
“As a very rural part of the country, we rely heavily on courier services not just for personal items but for businesses as well.
“Most annoyingly, we have had no contact from Evri whatsoever with an explanation or an update.
“We seem to be a very forgotten part of Scotland here.”
Weighing in on the situation, Galloway and West MSP Finlay Carson confirmed he had already been approached by several constituents in Whithorn. He said: “For the last few weeks I have been told Evri’s parcel delivery service have not been delivering their parcels.
“Obviously this is a major issue as far as the customers are concerned, especially as they insist hundreds of outstanding deliveries remain.
“I have written to Evri and asked them to look into this matter as a priority and advise me what the issue is here.
“Like the customers, I want the parcels to be delivered as soon as possible.
“Furthermore, I want assurances that this issue will be rectified and residents will receive their deliveries as scheduled.”
In response to the criticism, a spokesperson for Evri yesterday said: “We currently deliver around 900 million parcels a year and our ambition is that every customer’s experience is a positive one. We’re sorry that a small number of customers in the local area have not yet received their parcels and our local team are working to deliver any outstanding parcels in the coming days.
“Any customers who need support can contact our customer service team.”

Re: EVRI - Missing parcels plea
I hated the company when it was Hermes, I ordered a parcel and it disappeared in transit, no doubt stolen, the seller refunded me but I would rather have the item, I've since requested any seller to avoid using Evri when sending to me.
Worryingly I've started seeing Post Office vans with an Evri logo on it in a split blue red colour scheme.
