Not a clue , if I've got a job elsewhere, how do you go about giving notice and how long, has this got to be written and passed to your manager or do you just tell your manager

Depends how long you've worked here but if you've been here for years, one week. Put it in writing and slap it on the managers desk.

Do you know where you stand regarding pay rise back pay should the vote come back as Yes?

No idea. I retire on 29th August (so after the ballot result is announced) and still haven't got a scooby whether I'll get backpay at the end of September or not. Local union rep has no idea and hasn't heard back from above. As soon as I leave I'll be locked out of payslips etc so I'm guessing that I'll either get a pleasant surprise if I get an extra payment into my bank 4 weeks after I've left, or else I'll find that the union has screwed a number of their members yet again.

You have to be ‘in service’ to get back pay, so if you’ve left before it’s due to be paid you’ll not get it.

Write or print a letter and sign it, put it in an envelope and give it to your manager.

Managers name. I hereby give notice of my resignation, my last working day with royal mail will be on xxxx. Up to you if you want to say more.

I handed my notice in recently and will miss any back pay as well but it’s not worth staying for. I already have a start date for a new job and couldn’t give 4 weeks notice so i wrote… due to having a start date with my new job my last working day will be xxxx.

Well dont rule out a no vote.they thrive on people leaving around now..because they've worked since April and they ll save an absolute fortune from April on people leaving and people retiring..a no vote will only stall the ball again as the man says

Probably too embarrassed to admit it, a bit like finding a Labour voter at the moment but they still won the last election. I'd be surprised if anybody turned down nearly 5% to risk going on strike to try and get 5%!

I have a holiday in Sept . On the Saturday before I'll pop a letter under the managers door ( they all go home early Saturday) and that's it i won't return . Won't miss it one bit. It's not even Royal Mail anymore. The job was finished once it became a private company.

Well I hope you get the nice surprise. Where did you hear that we'll be paid at the end of September?
