I WILL lay a pound to a penny if you asked every postie in Greater Manchester what was more important — people’s jobs or a new design of uniform — I could give you the answer.

What moron at the Post Office came up with the idea of a new design of uniform, while somebody else told 400 workers their jobs were going?

Remember the last new uniform design, the one worn now, cost the Post Office £50 million, and that was only nine years ago.

Plus, has anybody ever noticed that in big organisations like the Post Office it is the workers who generate the income that are laid off first, while the office staff are left keeping their jobs.

These are office staff who, in the main, do nothing to generate income — they do not deliver or sort the mail.

So scrap the new uniform design idea and use your current workforce more efficiently.

Get rid off excess staff from the offices, especially middle management, who are paid more and do less.

When you look at it, it is exactly the same in the NHS. They get rid of nurses and ancillary staff, but hang on to as many office staff and management as possible.
