Hi - I have a RMSPS Section B deferred pension. This is due to pay me a lump sum and annual pension.
I am aware that I can convert some of my pension to get a bigger lump sum (up to 25%) however, what I cannot find is what commutation factor is used to convert pension into lump sum? All answers / guidance gratefully received. Thanks

Re: RMSPS Section B - Commutation Factor
Section B doesn't have a commutation factor. It comes with a lump sum as standard.

Going back a few years I’m sure you can take a smaller lump sum for an increase in pension and the other way round. I thought it was 20 to 1 but best give them a ring

Re: RMSPS Section B - Commutation Factor
The only issue is whether you paid AVCs on top of your normal contributions. That might muddy the waters some what. If you didn't, then it's a straight forward, divide your total pot by 4. This will give you the lump sum figure.

Re: RMSPS Section B - Commutation Factor
To find your maximum tax free lump sum for members in Section B taking their nra60 pension .... multiple your yearly pension on your last pension statement by 20. Add your standard lump sum figure to it and divide the total by 4.
If you then want to know what your monthly pension will be after you take the maximum tax free lump sum. Divide your maximum tax free lump sum by 80.
