Hi folks, operations moving from NDC to MSH on Monday apparently - having visited the site already here’s what to expect.
There’ll be a massive Q to get in, watch out if coming from Exeter or Newcastle, you’ll probably run out of driving time !
There’s 6 lanes to get in, I’ve heard the all singing and dancing camera system that identifies trailers and automatically allocates a bay won’t be operational for months.
When you get to the barrier there is an intercom where you can attempt to communicate with the remote gatehouse. They won’t be able to hear you, you won’t be able to hear them. It recently became necessary to train more people to fill these positions (as the automated system doesn’t work) so many don’t know the different between a rigid and a trailer. There is no queue system - you may see vehicles that arrived after you enter the site long before you get a chance.
The yard has no signposts to help you to a bay. Bays 1 - 214 are on the building, Good luck finding the rest, they are poorly marked having opted for the classic yellow-on-concrete choice. The numbers are hidden under trailers, good luck seeing them, and the bays are narrower too.
Many of the Managers inside are new to the game, are trying to live up to their recruitment claims but haven’t got a clue. I think they’re in for a difficult time.
All trailer movements are controlled by the ‘flow room’ which seems to have been given power over everything without having the ability to communicate with anything !
If you were hoping to fuel up, the pumps are slow delivery ones more suited to vans.
There are 4 lanes to exit, once again having to deal with the intercom.
Good luck everyone !

Watch out for the entry/exit barriers - they’re dropping before vehicles have cleared !
