It's this years annual leave. I'm on holiday this week and the next bank holiday at the end of May falls on my day off so I've got 2 extra days to take in this years entitlement. I usually try to get at least 1 or 2 bank holidays off on annual leave as you get the days added to your entitlement and it makes it up to 5 weeks without having to buy any holidays.janitor wrote:If your day off falls on a bank holiday i believe you get it back in your next years annual leave.

If it has not happened before thank your lucky stars and put it down to bad luck.Sherpas Rule wrote:I know I'm due a day back, my complaint is, I don't see how they can make it my day off if they don't even know what duty I'm on yet. If I'm on a duty with Friday as the day off for example, I'll have to come in and cover something else.
I've been spare heaps of times and I've never been told my day off a week in advance before.
If however, it happens all the time like it did with me when I was spare, go and see your rep about putting in a grievance for unfair treatment. I was a floater for about a year and I was on every Public Holiday marked down as having that as a day off. Mind you it did mean an extra week off when it was all added together.
