CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
Its over a month and a half since the overwhelming ballot result in favour of strikes. And royal mail have been stringing you along for months. The mandate is running out and the clock is ticking.......
Its been over a year since April 2022 and our piss poor 2% (against 10% inflation) payrise. Its 2023/24 already. We need some money now.
Either accept the deal and give us our money or announce some strike dates. Stop wasting our time.
How much longer are we going to wait?

F the carpetbaggers! Hand us back (re-nationalise) then we can go back to being a service! Remember, before privatisation, RM always gave the Government money(and, out in the sticks and elsewhere, we were part of the glue binding communities together)!
I have sad thoughts to GLS employees who are now on a race to beat Evri to the bottom but RM is a mainstay of UK life.

So you think if the govt took us over your terms would stay the same and you would get a nice 10% pay rise? You can but dream I guess.chewi wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 17:07F the carpetbaggers! There would be a deal if the union agreed and put it to a vote as they should.sindba wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 16:58There is no deal on offer. Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
Yeah basically the union can either accept the deal, put it to a vote or announce strikes. They just need to get on with it, they have taken too long in my opinion.
Many of us are struggling right now. I know that £1,500 plus 2% pay rise or £500 plus 6% pay rise from April 2023 would massively help me out.
Either give us the chance to get the money or announce strike dates and get on with it.

Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
I would consider taking the deal but I know that others wouldn't. In which case they need to announce strike dates. But all I am saying is the union needs to do something as they are dragging it out. There is no point us all being poorer if they are also wasting their mandate for strike action as royal mail are letting the clock tick down.

Sorrywhat? So you're saying there would be a deal if the Union accepted everything RM wanted?rambo1 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 17:14There would be a deal if the union agreed and put it to a vote as they should.sindba wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 16:58There is no deal on offer. Then it's not a flipping deal is it, it's RM's terms.

Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
My word if you think this is going to happen, go and bang your head against a wall.
Privatisation was 10 years ago, in a very different postal world than we live in now.
If you think it's bad now, you are definitely not prepared for what it will be like if it goes back into public hands. All this government will be doing is looking for someone with money to take it back off their hands again, probably at a knock down price, and the scenario will start all over again but from a much worse position.
As for RM giving the government money, if they ARE on the brink of administration where do you think this magic money tree will come from?

Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
Truth be told there are a lot of desperate folks out there and while the current offer from RM while not acceptable it would be enough for many people myself included. It’s taken almost 12 months to get to this position there would be no guarantee strikes would get us anything better and in fact would only make many more members worse off. A lot of us literally live life day to day, if this £1500 gets me through so be it.

Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
The deal isn’t great but the changes are happening anyway so we might as well be getting paid more for doing the work. Strikes will not make any improvement on what’s on offer but it will cost us all money.
The treatment of reps is terrible but it is not covered by the strike mandate.
Why are we fighting for the terms of people who don’t even work for RM yet? If they take the job with different terms then that is their choice. If we are reducing the workforce there shouldn’t be that many new starters anyway.
The proposed deal keeps our start times until 2024 anyway so take a year of better pay before fighting about the changes next year.
The whole dispute now is about the union saving face instead of doing what is best for its members.
