Liz Truss eases Swaffham residents' fears after Royal Mail talks over future of sorting office

Liz Truss has eased fears over lengthy trips to collect undelivered parcels after holding talks with Royal Mail bosses.

The South West Norfolk MP had been contacted by a number of Swaffham residents who were worried about the future of the town's sorting office.

Despite concern surrounding a potential closure of the Lynn Street facility, Ms Truss says she has been assured packages can still be collected without travelling elsewhere in the borough.

However, whether that will be through the current sorting office remains to be seen.

The former Prime Minister, who held the post for 49 days last year, held talks with Royal Mail’s director of external affairs and policy on the matter.

Ms Truss said: "While I was told that no final decision has yet been made about the customer service point operations in Swaffham, Royal Mail promised that there would be no question of constituents having to travel to Lynn to collect items that could not be delivered first time.

"I was assured that a facility to collect parcels in Swaffham will remain in place."

She added that she will continue to monitor this situation closely.

The facility to collect in Swatham will be having them delivered to a PO counter. CSP categorically will not be open for the collection of parcels only drop off of mail and then only if it's one of the chosen few.
