The court of Rotterdam sentenced 30-year-old Yassin el B. on Friday to eight years in prison for the death of a PostNL parcel deliverer. In its verdict, the court stated that it was established that the perpetrator used considerable violence that led to the death of the victim.

The 42-year-old parcel deliverer died in March of this year from injuries he sustained in a serious assault in Hoogvliet, a district of Rotterdam. The quarrel arose after the parcel deliverer unsuccessfully called El B. to deliver a new router. An altercation ensued in which the delivery man fell to the ground, suffering a fatal skull fracture.

According to the court, the perpetrator sought confrontation several times. She believes that El B. could have walked away if the delivery person himself had been aggressive, but instead wanted to eliminate his opponent in a targeted manner. Which was “completely out of order” in this matter, according to the court chairman.

The suspect was sentenced to six years in prison last month. The Public Prosecution Service assumed aggravated assault resulting in death. However, Yassin el B. continued to insist that he acted in self-defense. But the OM did not go along with that. The version of the perpetrator was also not supported by eyewitnesses.
