Redundancies

Post by olilew »

They had us round this morning and told us if we choose to go by the 27th of November we will get 9 months plus 6 grand. After the 27th it's only the 9 months, no 6 grand! What does the union say about this?

They are still legally obliged to consult for at least 30 days. So to me offering this till 27th November doesn't seem correct.

Consultation period is just a formality, it just means they won't make any decisions until after the 30 days.

Correct. To me they can't make offers like this.

Had the same - not much more information than that and also it’s apparently pro rata and depends on length of service

Union are asking you not to engage with RM
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

What happens to your pension if redundancy is taken. Also I presume it’s not possible to take a lump sum at 55

It’s worth bearing in mind that even if there was a queue of people wanting it - 5000-6000 redundancies amounts to about 6% so relative to a small to medium size delivery office its about 2 of every 40 employees who would get it

Of course some offices could have more and some less than that dependant
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

We didn't get told it was pro-rata, it needs to be clarified by RM whether it's 9 months plus money based on seniority or if it's just a blanket offer no matter how long you've worked for RM.
