It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Says Temporary managers are not covered by the strike ballot? Even if they have retained CWU membership.

Is that correct?

While we are on the topic of managers, does anyone know what happened with their dispute? I mean it was called off at about 18th or 19th July. Surely they cant still be negotiating....our gaffers have been asked a thousand times but they just keep saying they dont know. Our rep reckons our union chiefs know before they do how much they've been offered, but nobody's heard a thing. And now we are coming out on Friday and our gaffers are being sent to parcel hubs to deliver parcels, where as a month ago they were ready to walk. Its very VERY strange nowts happened?.....any thoughts or "rumours" anyone?

All managers have been replaced by shape shifting lizards who by virtue of their ability to time travel will be delivering 700 000 000 parcels per hour during any period of industrial action.
They will probably eat all of the union reps afterwards.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I thought the general consensus was that union reps were familiars.

Familiars meaning:
(in the Roman Catholic Church) a person rendering certain services in a pope's or bishop's household.

Is that what you meant?

I was thinking more the Bram Stoker character Renfield.
He is Count Dracula's deranged, fanatically devoted servant and familiar, helping him in his plan to turn Mina Harker into a vampire in return for a continuous supply of insects to consume and the promise of immortality.

That makes more sense.
I was wondering what the rep from Ibrox would have been doing in a bishop's household.

If a driver refuses to cross a picket they may be considered as participating in the action, resulting in their pay being abated for the entire shift if the process below has been followed. Any work they do during the shift will be considered voluntary and consequently unpaid.
Never heard of anything so ridiculous...

Yes, the dialogue is all very accommodating for those who don't want to strike and for those that do, "will be denied the opportunity of making up the time by working longer after returning to work". It then says "Don’t give strikers additional earning opportunities when they return, but normal levels of overtime may still be worked".

For a business that relies heavily on overtime I think this is petty because its going to be paying out on agency and temporary staff anyway

But it gives managers the green flag to fail duties (like they did during the pandemic) and purposefully allow a mail backlog to build up without any real obligation to get it delivered the day after. But when there's a weeks worth of mail build-up it might be deemed necessary to get delivered.

I do wish OfCom would crack down heavily on Royal Mail for this. A £1 million fine after making dozens of millions in savings for Royal Mail that has an obligation to the USO but who are purposely failing it because the company won't pay the labour absolutely stinks.

And how does Royal Mail expect staff that have been on strike that are losing money to be civil with those that have gone in and suddenly expect it to be business as usual after the strikes??

In a business where we are forced to work predominantly as van shares this is going to be interesting and when Managers are being told to report everything in a 'post-industrial action wash-up' you're going to need to be careful as well.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

RM fully expect to replace nearly all management with centralised AI controlled hive mind grid following the mass depopulation event unfolding following biological instructions issued to manufacturer vast quantities of toxic spike proteins ongoing, dispersed throughout the body bringing to the surface a variety of underlying health conditions and / or cultivating new ones, providing a wide spectrum of causes of death for plausible deniability.

Just thought, whilst we’re throwing out wild theories…

Perhaps they expect people to act like grown ups?
I know this is Royal Mail Kindergarten but we can live in hope.
